CEO of Fleet Auction Group Andrew Walker appointed as NAMA chairman

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) has appointed Fleet Auction Group (FLAG) chief executive Andrew Walker as its new chairman.

The appointment was announced at NAMA’s annual AGM held on September 18 in Windsor.

NAMA said members thanked outgoing chair Stuart Pearson, CEO at British Car Auctions (BCA), for his hard work and for steering NAMA through the pandemic.

With more than 30 years experience in the motor vehicle auction industry, Walker has an understanding of both vendor and purchaser requirements, Fleet Auction Group said.

The group described him as a “respected auctioneer”, who has implemented many new selling concepts and is “committed” to raising professional standards across the industry.

A charity auction in aid of Action for A-T (Ataxia-Telangiectasia), took place following NAMA’s AGM, raising £30,000 for the charity.

Ataxia-Telangiectasia is a rare, genetic degenerative disease of childhood, which affects multiple systems of the human body.

Almost half of respondents to a recent survey by NAMA said they expect volumes of vehicles coming into auction to increase over the next month.

The used market has been rocked by supply disruption affecting the supply of new cars, leading to a spike in values and reduced availability of models.

Consumers are increasingly seeking used models because of the long lead times currently associated with new cars due to the global semiconductor shortage.

Car Auction Search, a new online platform that showcases stock from a number of NAMA partner members in one place, launched in August.
